Marshmallow Dress

As we toured Virginia-Highlands one happy day, my sisters and I came across a particularly magical window display: a wind-blown evening dress made of marshmallows... and a bit of chicken wire!

Little Library

There is a hardware store on Concord Road that takes the idea of serving and enriching the community seriously - Vickery Do It Best Hardware. You don't have to pass through the door to be blessed. Employees have attached a cupboard to the front of their building, creating the Little Free Library. Take a book, share a book, have a great day!

Remind me to ask about the pink ribbon... this is a hardware store, after all!

Tour de Hood

Subtle irony and sublime photography: http://tourdehood.wordpress.com/.

A powerful profile of a great city and extraordinary storytelling. Hilarious and profoundly poignant all at once.

Dress Like a Cow

Friday the 13th was "Dress Like a Cow" Day at our local Chick-Fil-A fast food restaurant.  Our neighbors, young and old(er) had a lot of fun making their costumes and admiring each other's creativity.

Favorite 4th of July Float

The 4th of July parade in Marietta was good fun. The community turned out to see their neighbors, cheer for the beauty queens and politicians, wave flags and eat.

Here are some pictures of my favorite float - the one designed by kids.

Cherokee St, Marietta Square

I like this float because it has everything a float needs: Kids, a flag, bubbles, and a monster. But mostly I like it because it is creative and fun.

Oh, yeah... it has a tank, too!

Congratulations, guys, on a job well done!  (Congratulations, parents, too!)

A Quilted Van

Visiting Marietta?  You might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a quilted van parked near the downtown area.
